Gone to Boston
Storm Clearing From Inch, oil on canvas, 91 x 61 cm
Just received word that my painting Storm Clearing From Inch has arrived safely in Massachusetts. It depicts one of the amazing skies we have here in West Kerry, just after a storm has passed and the peninsulas slowly emerge out of the clouds.
It is not an exact photo representation (I didn’t copy a photo or paint it en plein air), but it shows a scene I’ve looked at many, many times – standing on Inch Beach looking west across Dingle Bay, with the Iveragh Peninsula on the left and the Dingle Peninsula on the right. As with all my best paintings, it arrived fully formed in my head one day, and practically painted itself.
It will be part of a permanent exhibition in a new museum in Boston. I look forward to letting you know more when I can.
